We got this and Grand Central Station as a birthday gift for our 5 year old. This was to add on to his basic set. Grand Central Station was a hit, but as soon as they realized this one had the 'blast' feature, they couldn't leave it alone. They're also into construction, that was another plus. My son has two 'other brand' train sets, but Geotrax is by far the most durable and dependable set and it's the only one I'll buy additions for. He's had his basic set for three years and the train still runs despite it having taken a bath at least twice and been dropped/thrown countless times. A family hit!
